CU – Chronic Urticaria

Chronic Urticaria (CU) is a variant of urticaria lasting more than 6 weeks, which may persist for years, occasionally requiring immunosuppressive therapy.

In most patients CU etiology is undefined, and therefore is commoly termed "idiopathic". A subset of idiopathic UC patients recognize an autoimmune pathogenesis, based on the detection of specific IgG autoantibodies to FcεRI.

Toscana Biomarkers is working on identification of new biomarkers for CU diagnosis using the well established chemical reverse approach. Funding for this project has been provided by Regione Toscana.
