Autoimmune disorders are diagnosed, evaluated, and monitored through a combination of autoantibody blood tests, blood tests to measure inflammation and organ function, clinical presentation, and MRI examinations.In vitro tests based on the detection of antibodies as disease biomarkers can be efficiently used for the diagnosis and the follow-up of autoimmune disorders. Antibody-titer can be evaluated using different techniques, such as Enzyme-Linked ImmunoSorbent Assay (ELISA).
The efficacy of a diagnostic/prognostic test relies in the selection of a specific and selective biomarker, which can be univocally biochemically characterized. In this sense, peptides can provide reproducible tools for antibody monitoring.
